RRB NTPC is one of the largest recruitment exams in the country, and that scale is exactly the problem: lakhs of candidates, a two-stage computer based test, and normalisation across shifts that makes raw score alone meaningless. Our RRB NTPC coaching in Thane is built around scoring high enough in CBT 1 to reach CBT 2 comfortably, rather than scraping through.
Posts Covered Under NTPC
Non-Technical Popular Categories covers graduate-level posts such as Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist, along with undergraduate-level posts like Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist. Eligibility differs by post, so the first thing we do is help you pick the post preference list that actually matches your qualification.
Stage-Wise Preparation
CBT 1
100 questions in 90 minutes — Mathematics (30), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30) and General Awareness (40). General Awareness carries the largest weight and is the fastest section to score in, which is why it starts from day one in our schedule rather than the last month.
CBT 2
120 questions in 90 minutes with a higher difficulty level and greater emphasis on Mathematics and Reasoning. Candidates who coast through CBT 1 on General Awareness alone tend to stall here, so quantitative depth is built in parallel from the start.
Typing Skill Test / Computer Based Aptitude Test
Typing practice for clerical and typist posts, and Aptitude Test preparation for Station Master and Traffic Assistant, where a minimum T-score is required and there is no relaxation.
Document Verification & Medical
Guidance on medical standards by post category, which candidates routinely overlook until it is too late.
Subjects in Detail
Mathematics — number system, ratio, percentage, profit and loss, time and work, time and distance, mensuration, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and elementary statistics.
General Intelligence & Reasoning — analogies, series, coding-decoding, syllogism, Venn diagrams, puzzle, data sufficiency, statement-conclusion and decision making.
General Awareness — current events, Indian history and freedom struggle, geography, polity, economy, general science, and Indian Railways specifically. Railway-related static GK appears every cycle and is often ignored by candidates preparing from generic SSC material.
Preparing for Railway and SSC Together
Reasoning, quantitative aptitude and general awareness overlap heavily between RRB NTPC and SSC exams, so a single preparation cycle can cover both sets of notifications. Many of our students run SSC coaching alongside, and also target Railway Group C and Group D in the same year.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is normalisation in RRB NTPC?
Because the exam runs across many shifts of differing difficulty, raw scores are statistically adjusted so that candidates from a harder shift are not penalised. It means your percentile position matters more than your raw mark, and it is why consistent accuracy beats gambling on attempts.
Is there negative marking?
Yes, one third of a mark is typically deducted for each wrong answer in both CBT stages. Blind guessing is a losing strategy — we train an educated-elimination approach instead.
Which post should I choose?
It depends on your qualification, your comfort with the Aptitude Test, typing ability and how you feel about shift duties. We go through post preference individually rather than giving a blanket answer.
How long does the full recruitment cycle take?
Railway cycles are long — often more than a year from notification to joining. Plan to keep preparing for parallel exams while the process runs.
Do you provide typing practice?
Yes, for typist and clerical posts, along with CBAT preparation for Station Master and Traffic Assistant aspirants.
RRB NTPC preparation overlaps heavily with SSC and Banking on quantitative aptitude and reasoning. See how we sequence those batches across the year on our government exam coaching in Thane page.
