What Is the RMS Entrance Exam?
Rashtriya Military Schools are CBSE-affiliated Army establishments combining academic education with military discipline. Five campuses admit boys into Class 6 and Class 9 through the RMS Common Entrance Test. The boys-only eligibility is an important distinction from Sainik Schools and RIMC, which also admit girls.
Eligibility Criteria
Class 6: Commonly 10-12 years old and studying in or having passed Class 5.
Class 9: Commonly 13-15 years old and required to have passed Class 8 from a recognized school before admission.
Special Relaxation: A six-month upper-age relaxation may apply to wards of personnel killed in action.
Gender: Boys only for both entry classes.
Exact birth-date ranges are set afresh each cycle. Always check the current official notification.
Exam Pattern – Class 6
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| English | 50 | 50 |
| General Knowledge & Current Affairs | 50 | 50 |
| Reasoning (Intelligence) | 50 | 50 |
| Mathematics | 50 | 50 |
| Total | 200 | 200 |
The OMR-based objective test is commonly 2.5 hours long and based on concepts up to Class 5.
Exam Pattern – Class 9
Class 9 follows the same four-section structure – English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reasoning, and Mathematics – at a higher difficulty based on concepts up to Class 8. Exact section-wise marks may be revised, and our faculty updates course material to match the current official pattern.
